well its nice to finally be using the van and getting away, as always there are a new niggles you only discover once you driving it so Im currently working on them. Stripped and serviced the rear brakes and fitted new calipers, a big thanks to Brickwerks for locating a late RHS Girling caliper before we head off to the Westfalia Refuge camp this weekend. 8)

I bought a set of Syncro spats on the forum last year that were a bit tired. A bit of TLC, redrilled the holes and fitted new stainless steel bolts and they are as good as new. A big thanks to Bigjcc55 for his help and advice and posting me some innotec, top man 8)

I need to replace the bolts in my 16l spats. What did you use to bond in the replacement bolts?

Shaun I used this stuff, it was excellent stuff and went off really quickly. I fitted M5 stainless bolts rather than just threaded bar as I thought the heads would make it sit better and of course the innotec to bond it too which is great stuff

Was going to ask the same question. Mine have been sat in the shed for years.

Absolutely. It's not a proper workshop if you can see the workbench top.

lol you should see the other side of the shed  .....

Been meaning to tackle the oil temps for a while, on the journey to Syncronicity it was reaching 115 to 118. We are off to France in July so I needed it sorting before then. The first step was fitting some nice scoops from Lloydy (many thanks kind sir) :D

Also in the middle of fitting the oil cooler, much thanks to Torsen for all his advice on this. I'd originally bought a Mochal 25 row cooler but it was just too tight a fit, fitted the 19 row cooler yesterday which fits snugly, hoses and sandwich plate to follow next weekend, along with a nice short sump I picked up from Outfront Motorsports.

Bricky & others have them back in stock now

Got the oil cooler fitted last weekend, again thanks to Torsen for his help & advice :ok
Took it for a drive and only got to about 95 (ish), would usually have gone over 100, was getting to temps of 118 on a long trip so it will be good to see what we get on our trip to France later this month.

Blanking plate fitted above the cooler to try and direct as much air over the cooler as possible

New short sump fitted too, this is from Outfront Motorsports I've had a great service from them. This was recommended by Mick @ http://busaru.com/ who was also very helpful

This sump has a thick plated bottom (which will give me a bit more peace of mind) and OEM oil baffle. I also got the short oil pick up with a brazed bar which spaces the pick up to ensure oil flow in case the sump was damaged on impact.

Managed to get hold of a decent Paulchen rack (thanks Andy) to modify for the tailgate which I liked the look of on Weem Machine's syncro, (thanks for the help & advice G)

I have added some slugs inside the joints of the arms for extra strength and extra bars to the shelf to make it a bit more usable, had great help from Mark @ Suffolk Campervan Hire which included lots of use of his welder
