Not sure how much of the roof they have to chop out for these full length poptops.
Has anyone seen one in the flesh?

On the contact page:

The roof is all aluminium chequer-plate. Looks like they are coachbuilders, just north of Stuttgart.

I've seen pics of the White syncro before. Think the guy had his own website at one point. He had a very light weight van with a plastic interior that he drove across a desert.
How much can you chop out of a t25 roof to make that conversion usable? I suppose you could make the hole further back.

I had ambitions of creating something similar with my 2WD years ago and did have an Email conversation with the owner (very nice chap) for a bit. He passed on the contact details of the designer (Special Mobils) , but he was on a round the world trip in one of his Pinzgaur creations at the time. I wanted to know what additional reinforcement he'd added to stop the sides flopping about. The rectangle of box section is fairly obvious but there must be more elswhere. I'm sure it could be done a little more elegantly.

the white special mobils 16" lightweight was out of commission for some time and is now back on the road...it was up for sale about 5 years back i almost picked it up (not without paying of course :wink: )
that dident happen....11 in toatal were produced one of which was a full vertical pop up. pics for perusal :D > Image

Anyone know of a contact number for people that make these? Contact on their website doesnt work for me..

This is exactly the sort of pop top I'm after to squeeze the wife & kiddies in.

Only other option is selling the Syncro to get something bigger or getting a roof tent.

I think they were pretty much made to order "bespoke" jobbies, and quite some time ago. Looks like the company is still going though.

I interpret it as the elevating roof having a sunroof installed. The kids are sitting on the back of the opening while the guy is standing up through it. Or were you more interested in the celery?

you might be cheaper fitting a westy roof as they start from 7k euro

I'm guessing that the concerns about rigidity due to the removal of the B column weren't enough to stop him rolling the design out .
