Here’s the project needs some TLC but I’m a VW nut so no problems there.

Old drums off, shoes off ,cylinders off old cables off,all new parts on, good look underneath and nothing scary found yet.
Has been waxed at some point which helps. Body shop guy gave her the once over and again nothing scary, got a quote for the body work and full glass out respray,so once the mechanicals are sorted she's off to the paint shop.pics to follow.
Got her added to my classic policy and valued 5k at the moment, once work sorted will revalue. Any feed back ref value welcome to much ,
not enough or just right as little bear said

£5k sounds about right as long as you don't "camperise" it!!

RHD original panel's are getting very rare.

Lots of boxes lots of fluids and some original (not so new parts) parts removed and replaced.4.5 ltrs gearbox oil 4.5ltrs engine oil 16 ltrs coolant. The patient is on the long road to recovery but there is a pulse. No plans to camperise it.

As the vans being worked at by a local garage I needed to get hands on, so instead of getting the engine panels blasted I got stuck myself, wire brush on the drill and they where given a good going over, not to much dirt on them, just a mouse’s nest!!! Two broken bolts drilled out and rethreaded. Coated the panels with rust killer then left overnight to dry out then a good coat of hammerite. Found some nice new VW self tappers and washer I had bought for another project so will use these on the van. I know they will not be seen but needed to do something.

Needed something more to keep me occupied as the vans still being worked on, so after seeing a set of guards being fitted for the prop shaft and gear box on Campervanculture I though I would knock up a set.
Picked up some 5mm alloy plate and got cut to size, then home and basing them on the ones I had seen made one up (another to do) happy with the result but wont be drilling the mounting holes up till I get the van back, also made a template up for the gearbox guard including the 2 bent flaps to help protect the cv joints. The one on the video has a small rectangular section cut out and welded back on looks like its there to allow a space between the gearbox and the guard. Will get the gearbox panel cut out when I pick up another piece of 5mm plate.

Still to do front shocks to fit, fuel filter to fit and old diesel drained from tank and some fresh stuff put in, pax cv boot, not much really before I can get her to the body shop. Hard board panels taken out and old insulation to be removed. Seized bolts and rusty screws slowing progress, front bash panel and prop rails cleaned down and painted. Local garage doing the work so cant really get at her myself so just to be doing some thing took of the sun visors and cleaned them sad I know but need to get hands on. Big bag of new spire clips and bolts ordered.
Rattle from engine turns out to be loose metal pipe running to a flexi hose then to air intake, looks like a warm air intake see last pic.
Short video (click pic)just started running from cold bit smoky but soon clears, needs some fresh juice.
