Speakers for cab

Post by mariner »

Hi all. Currently only have speakers in the rear of the van as the previous owner removed the ones in the cab. Looking to reinstate them and wondered if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions about size/speaker. Been looking at 130mm but can't find any that come with a grill. 100mm seems too small and (without removing the door panel to check) 170mm seems too big. Cheers for any help.

I originally put a pair of these in the front doors

I thought they would do the trick as I also have one of these under the drivers seat
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-KSC-SW ... B00BO8O9XQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, the sound from the focals just got lost
I subsequently upgraded the fronts to a pair of these
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rockford-Fosga ... B00BF6HWCM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and moved the focals to forward facing in the small cupboard above the rear seats.
I'm very pleased with the results. I had to enlarge the speaker holes in the door cardsand used a pair of 12mm MDF spacers painted black.

Had to shave a little off the hole in the door itself (although with a thicker spacer this would not be necessary).

Thanks, that's all useful to know, particularly around sizing. Think my budget might not stretch to the speakers themselves!

Could easily have gone with cheaper speakers of the same size. Any worries about sound quality goes out the window once you have the air-cooled chattering away in the background.
