Ignore the superflous stuff, green block is the green wire to the points (1973) or hall sensor (see 1980 diagram), terminal 1.

Black wires are for the carbs and connected to terminal 15 (+ve) on the coil. Should be live with ignition on.

Other wires I don't know and wouldn't want to guess without pictures, but the blue wire from the alternator normally goes to the non charging LED in the dash, which might explain why that doesn't work. I can compare against my CU tomorrow.

That diagram might do, but this one is clearer

The link I gave has all the years, make sure you go for the 1700cc one for the rest of the diagram

I have only linked it because it's not right to have them paying for the download everytime someone looks at the thread

If you have wired the accuspark in backwards it will be toast unfortunately, what made you change it to begin with ? Can you post some pictures of yours ?

Pictures of my van or the wiring, I got given it last year, was doing the oil and filter and a few little jobs on the van and thought I know what'll be a good idea let's change the distributor, what a mistake,I had heard they were a better upgrade, supposed to be a bit more responsive, I've got a little bit of hesitation on pulling off, and the world's biggest flat spot on an incline,

The wiring , hesitating and flat spot is likely to be a vacuum advance issue , are you replacing your old dizzy just because?

Yeah, like I say a friend of mine brought it but never ended up fitting it, so I took it off his hands, had the original distributor re conditioned and carbs set up and balanced but it's always been a bit flat, changed the elbows on the vacuum pipes changed the coil , do thought I'd try the accuspark distributor, buggered that up lol, well not intentionally

I would go along with that, and perhaps a static timing issue.

I suppose we had better make sure it doesn't have a 009 dizzy fitted

I just looked at my CU. Blue wire for the alternator goes into the loom, the only other blue wire is for the oil pressure switch, before it goes to the final connecter with a black wire.

Any photos yet ?

So I would say you have the wires on the wrong way round

Terminal 15 = +ve

Terminal 1 = -ve

Terminal 15 should have the ignition live and carb connections, all black

Terminal 1 should have the green wire that goes to the dizzy (hall sensor on a standard CU) - that's the one in the terminal block

That's how I've just wired it, there is a live taken from the ignition +ve side of the coil for the fuel pump relay, but got no battery light though which looks like it's been wired to the back of the alternator warning wire

That sounds right - does it run ?

What dizzy are you running now - standard hall sensor or aftermarket ?

Runs sweet with a new coil, I'm guessing the coil polarity had been effected? Running the standard dizzy at the minute, just warming her up to check the timing, see how it goes
