Windscreen Pump - now blowing the fuse- NOW FIXED

Post by bertnuggit »

How you can stretch the windscreen water hose to fit onto a new pump?

I tried last week, in cold weather which didn't help...I tried soaking the hose in hot water to soften it then attaching but the hose instantly hardens. Then tried with a hot air blower, got it partially attached & put the pump/bottle etc back together but didn't work & pulling the washer lever blew a fuse... :(

Not a fun job lying under the van.. Anyone got some handy tips??

Any idea why I'm blowing fuse 10 when I pull the screenwash lever? Doesn't blow when I use the wipers...

I took the washer tank down again & connected the hose (I couldn't get the hose attached to the pump so I used a short piece of wider hose on the pump). I pulled the washer lever & I could hear the pump work, then I put the pump back into the washer bottle & bolted it all back up, tried the lever & it blows the fuse....Could it be a blocked hose causing this?

I've had a few failed attempts now & not sure its a job an auto electrician would want to take on...any ideas what the problem is??? :( Thanks......

Update:
Thanks for the advice, got the wiper jets working now without blowing fuses..
I wondered if it was bad earths or blocked hoses/jets but I think it was bad contact with the two connectors to the pump. I put on a new contact & wrapped both with some insulation tape & it's working now.
