indicator switch problem

Post by tee3peeo »

Hi, I have a problem with my indicator switch. Left indicator works well, but right indicator works very rarely. Sometimes it lights for one flash but that's it. I've taken the wheel off and I can see that the contacts are very dirty. Can I open the switch and clean the contacts? I can see three brass screws that look as though they will give access. Or if I unscrew these will all the parts spring out in a never-to-be-put-back-together sort of way.

Many thanks

the indicator stalk and wiper stalk are effectively sealed units and won't just pop apart when you undo the three bolts to remove them but with the lower column shroud off you can actually see how they work and where the contacts are once you have disconnected the plugs and you can spray some contact cleaner in there and work the stalks to clean the contacts
