No indicators, wipers, horn, blower

Post by Cyprus dave »

Transporter 1985 (12 Fuses)
Indicators, wipers, horn, blower all not working.
Lights are working, and van starts up OK. Fairly new battery.
Suggestions of where the problem might be please.

Ignition switch? Fuses blown? Is power reaching one side of the fuse terminal? If so then you know problem is post fusebox.

Checked all fuses. They are OK.
As I say the Lights work.
Not sure about ignition switch, apart from lights are on the dash when key is turned on.
Could it be one or both of those two 'Crowns' behind the fuses making a bad earth.

yes check ingnition switch, and "x" relay for dirty contacts, bad connections.
also check hazzard switch ( do hazzards work??? if not they are not ignition switched, so more than one problem)
heater blower could be switch , wiper also could be switch or steering column wiring issue ( as could indicators)

If the headlamps work then unlikely to be the ignition switch more likely the relief relay has failed (relay in position three) or wiring fault between ignition switch to relay, earth for the relay, or to fuse 10.

Starting at the beginning:
1) When did these problems occur?
2) Have you been driving the van lately?
4) Did all electrics mentioned fail at the same time?

Not sure when problems started.
Not driven the van for several months.
Again not sure if all failed at same time.

We are in the process of moving, so have been concentrating our efforts in that direction.
But do my answers help provide the answer to the problem. I hope so

Have had flasher unit and X-contact (load reduction) units tested. Both are good.
Any other suggestions of where I can look/test please

Does fuse 10 become live when you switch the ignition on? (Both sides of the fuse).
