Propex 1600 on 1991 T25..Help please

Post by stevewmmaine »

Could do with a bit of advice with this... think the fan is faulty(been in van since new!)...it will run,a bit erratically with a nudge.well poking a finger on the fins...have no expertise in this area and was shocked to see the price of a new heater..can you get parts(like a new/secondhand fan?)...is it worth it given the age and would it be better just to replace the whole unit?..does anyone know if you can get recond ones?..thanks Steve

When you say fan, which fan ?

There's the air circulation fan, and an internal "fan" which rotates when ignition occurs. They used to get sticky and are part of the safety circuit, so the burner shuts off after 30 seconds and the warning lights start flashing.

I have to blow compressed air up the exhaust of mine to free it off whenever it's not been used for a while.

Spares are readily available, Propex are helpful.

call propex they will give you a rough estimate to refurbish it, if they can, they are one of the most helpful customer friendly businesses I have ever come across

No probs - just to clarify the internal fan is driven by the flow of inlet air as a result of combustion. They replaced the original device with a solid state equivalent that didn't stick.

I've fitted 2 propex recently - a very old X1 and a HS1600. In both cases I found the company extremely helpful and good value to deal with.
