New Radio fitting Help please!

Post by T25 Newbie »

Hi

I have just fitted a new mechless radio and all works.

Only trouble is it won't turn off!
I think its because it's expecting to be wired into the ignition and its live all the time. the old radio was OK though

Any idea how i wire it into the ignition?

Thanks

It should turn off with the on/ off button

regardless of if supply is an ignition on feed or permanent live.

You sometimes have to hold the on switch for 2 secs before it will switch off.

Your fusebox will have both ign live and permanent live feeds to chose from

I have read the manual honest!

I have had a couple of people look at it and we are all confused

it should be simple we know but its not having it

Temporary fix could be just pop the removable fascia off which seems to work for now

I may get need to an expert in!

I have a removable facia radio in the CU. Every time I put the battery back on, the radio fires up. I then just switch it off using the on/off button. Seems strange if the radio isn't equipped with an on off button.

If the OP posts the radio model number maybe someone will know the answer.

Solved!
As I was driving home I realised that the radio was turning off it was the illumination that was staying on!

Change the display settings and all goes dark!
Oops oh well silly me[GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES][GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Would still like to wire it to the ignition at some point though

Thanks for the replies guys appreciate it even though I am a plonker!

I would wire it to the Leisure Battery, if you have one. Then you can listen all the time when you are camping without fear of the van not starting in the morning. Same with the cigarette lighter because certain people like to use it for charging their phones etc.

There's an easy mod to make fuse 3 on late WBX live from the leisure battery.
