2.1 DJ with factory ABS. Where is your ECU mounted?

Post by maxstu »

As per subject title. Traced my intermittent cutting out fault to rev limiter rotor. Now with normal type. Yet in the elimation process l found the ECU stuffed behind coolant tank and not attached in engine bay panel in usual place, on left hand side.
If you have ABS the pump is often under RHD version passenger seat, normally where leisure battery sits. This in turm gets shunted to box area behind left rear lense. Now there a load of relays and such where ECU sit in stardard versions either 1.9 or 2.1.
SO! Where ECU's home for ABS versions?
Thanks
Stuart

Not actually sure what your asking but the ABS ECU should be under the seat in front of the ABS pump.

Whats the multi pin box (ECU?) about 8 x 10 x 2 inches in engine bay. Normally sits on left hand wall when looking in area from behind van

As In the picture I posted (Switch unit Digijet) It should be on a bracket behind the rear lights.

But my leisure battery is there because ABS unit is under pass seat.

Originally, VW didnt fit "leisure" batteries i n the location you mention, so anything like that is an aftermarket addition, explaining why your efi computer is stuffed behind the coolant tank.
