Rewiring Stereo to Leisure Battery

Post by JackE »

Hi

I have followed these really great instructions https://vwt25.blog/2016/05/19/rewiring- ... e-battery/ the only difference is I put in a mini fuse box at the leisure battery end rather then the inline fuse.

Anyway if I connect the spade connector at the top of fuse box it does not work, the stereo and cigarette lighter have no power.

I tried connecting it in the bottom and the stereo and cigarette lighter worked fine. I was just wondering if this is okay and if there is any reasons why it might be different to the instruction linked to above. The cigarette lighter although a VW part was not fitted by VW- it was fitted by a different garage at a different point in time before I got the van I just saw in some paper work.

I have just looked here http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/westy ... page2.html at it seems to suggest that the bottom is correct?

Many thanks

Oh, nice.. I see the person running that blog has put up for download the PDF's I *personally* scanned in from *my own copies* of the paper workshop manuals. Without any credit or a by your leave. Don't rate their electrical skills much.. too many electricians crimps for my liking.

I think so - I tested whether top or bottom was live using a meter before I inserted the spade
