I used 3 in 1 a few months ago. Made no difference

Do you know if your cable is one of the Gemo ones or not?

Has anyone laid down the cable straight removed the cluster and connected the cable to a drill, be an interesting experiment to see how much bending the cable can take before bouncing the needle.

I have asked Brickwerks who are going to look into it. :ok

I don't have a spare speedo or I would, I try not to disturb the cluster if I can help it in case of breaking it.

Yes - in the samba link.

Would that mean a less rigid inner cable, one more likely to kink ?

looks bigger diameter to me, need to measure...

It looks to me that the upper (Gemo) one has a lot of wear on the inner cable where it contacts the outer spirals - the original has a shoulder to hold it central there. Possibly that doesn't help.

Larger diameter cable = larger (minimum) bend radius

I'd say more clearance in the VW cable but still got to measure as best I can.

I just tried this with a new unused Gemo cable, no speedo connected, I could bend it into an 8" circle before it started jumping.
Doesn't help much as the Gemo cables seem to last for a few weeks from new.
I did wonder if having an S bend in the cable would make it jump more. it didn't with the new one but might with an older one.

8 inch circle being diameter or radius?
I'm not 100% clear if the Gemo above is the one I bought a year or two ago or the one I bought several years ago and only fitted recently.
When I pull the other one put I will compare if it's different again.

looking at the pictures..

I was wondering due to the gaps in the outer casing of the Gemo cable, would the inner spiral be 'threading'' on the inside where the cable bends
round corners and jumping threads when the tension gets too much?? causing the bouncing?? as both wound in the same direction.
The VW cable doesn't have gaps in the outer casing...

Can you fit the Gemo inner into the VW outer and still get the bounce?.

Agree this is a possability and I wrot the same above but just not as well as you

you cant seperate inner frpm outer they have crimped ends both ends.

Ah! yes indeed you did. Sorry didn't go back far enough to pick up the ''story so far''
