Re: Speedo Bounce
How did you remove the cable from the sheath? The ends are too big to go through the sheath on the couple that I have had - the original VW one and the replacement Gemo one.

do the job. Or you can buy cable oiler and there is a cheaper non-hydraulic type to.
Try baby oil as a lubricant

tried oil I was wondering if anybody knows how this works? how does it seal to cable
maybe a grease gun and some home made adapter might work better

Re: Speedo Bounce
The thing that bugs me more than the bounce is the noise
I can be driving along at any speed and suddenly I get a resonance which is very noisy
binicle cover off press on cable while driving it stops

I don't get any noise with mine.

Re: Speedo Bounce
The synchro cable slides out from the front differential end once you grip the drive coupling. It’s been a while since I owned my 2wd but isn’t there a C clip at the binnacle end and then it slides out through the grease cap? Any Bowden type cable must separate unless the ends are mechanically crimped/soldered. Looking in Bentley it would seem that if you’re remove the c clip at the cap end you should be able to grip the inner drive cable at the binnacle end with needle nose pliers and draw it through leaving the sheath in place?Oldiebut goodie wrote:How did you remove the cable from the sheath? Even if you were to remove the fastener from one end ie grind it off wouldn’t it still stay sandwiched between the binnacle end clip and the c clip at the grease cap end?

Re: Speedo Bounce
They are mechanically crimped, no c/e clip so can't be withdrawn (except the one outside the grease cap), any shoulder is needed to prevent the cable dropping out of the grease cap or driving up into the speedo.

Re: Speedo Bounce
Then what logically follows is that the step at the binnacle nd stops the cable running out through the cap an£ the c/e clip on the cap will stop it tracking up, therefore the lower fastener/step can be cut off and draw the cable up and out?Oldiebut goodie wrote:They are mechanically crimped, no c/e clip so can't be withdrawn (except the one outside the grease cap), any shoulder is needed to prevent the cable dropping out of the grease cap or driving up into the speedo.
