Don't think so. I want it reliable for next owner. Probably going for different van as family is too big now for all four of us to sleep in it.

Change of mind. Going to do it as I'm doing the starter cable anyway and now have hydrolic crimper. Is this 6 way fusebox OK or do I need something a bit better.

what better lights than hella are available (with standard bulbs).
I do like the Mk1 Golf slightly smoked glass (matches my grey van / smoked lights)

Will also look at putting in a separate fuse box for blower heater etc (when I remove the dash to do the heater blower / change washer pipes :-)

Lucas-style fit with minor fettling (if round headlights). Been covered a few times. Mine completely pee on Hellas. Look for headlights for the Defender ;) Also take a look at powerfuluk - where I got mine.

Does the dash need to come out?

Got most of the stuff I need now. Just wanted to check that 6mm wire is OK between starter and alternator bearing in mind its a 90A alternator.

Up to battery (and thats including starter & alt) I'm using 16mm but 10 would be fine. Its only at the dash end you use 6mm

It might be overkill but Ive got 35mm from brickwerks for battery to starter and 16mm for dash upgrade and lights. So you recommend 16mm from starter to alternator as well?

It should be minimum 35mm2 from battery to starter, later models used 70mm2.
Alternator to starter motor is 6mm2
