Both brake lights are out

Post by Jonnyb416 »

Discovered both break lights are out. Checked the bulbs and they are fine. Can anyone please advise what I should check next? Cheers, Jon.

Cheers. Not sure where the switch is. Is it easy to find?

I changed all the fuses for new the other week. Cleaned all the terminals too. They all look ok.
Cheers, Jon.

Never looked on a T25, but they tend to be above the brake pedal

We've bypassed the switch and the lights came on (think that's what we did) My mate says it's the switch.

Can anybody please tell me if mines the 2 or 3 pin switch? 1982 1.6D.

Cheers, Jon.

It could have either depending on which market it was destined for. Did he not notice how many wires went to the switch.

I’m not sure. I will look into this and report back. Thank you.

My mate thought it had 2 wires.

Of the 2 available at Brickwerks: the 2 pin says for T3 models and the 3 pin says for earlier models with warning light. Now mines an earlier van but I don’t think it has a warning light so I’m pretty certain it’s 2 pin.

I’ve emailed Michael at Brickwerks. He normally finds out for sure.

Well it's certainly 2pin. Switch ordered. Hoping to be able to change without too much faff and loss of fluid.

Was quite easy to change the brake light switch. Spanner in from the top after moving dash cluster slightly, eventually removed using fingers. A helpful friend to cover the hole going from under the dash, stop fluid coming out. Then new switch in from the top and tighten up. I have break lights again!!
