Bosch 90A alternators, OEM

Post by silverbullet »

Do they all use the same size bearings?

6303 2RS front but not sure about the rear one... my practice one doesnt want to release the armature from the rear half of the casing to let me see, already snapped one screw off :(

22S... SA Part number but same design architecture as later 025... ones.
Appears to use 6201 2RS at the slip ring end.

Can't find that one - closest to it is 0 120 469 744
That has two different bearings also. I have had scour around the net and most of the 90A Bosch ones appear to have two different bearings.

This should be for that number 0 120 469 743 ( from here http://catalogue.alternatorstarter.com/ ... alternator - seems to have two part nos. so will have different bearings:

Thanks, it seems that all of "our" alternators are of a common internal design, with variation in the mounting lugs only.
Certainly all the later ones (with M8 stud for positive terminal) use the 6303 at the pulley end and the 6201 at the commutator end.
Don't ignore a rumbly or cyclic noise, this one had completely seized the smaller bearing and it was spinning inside the plastic tolerance ring/dust sheild.
Caught it just in time and it was a good job that I had a spare 034 alternator to raid for parts.

Good to know. I'm pretty sure that the alternator on my Daf truck has the same bearings as I replaced them both a couple of years ago and I recognise the bearing references.
