Battery light stays on

Post by crazyhorse »

Hi gang,

Any advice here.

Driving today my battery light started to flicker. Then went solid. Kept on going, had a 30 min drive to get home. During that 30 mins the coolant and fuel gauge went to empty, the radio player switched off, the wipers were moving slow and as it got dark no lights.

I managed to make it home, and when i parked up i switched the lights on again and engine stopped. When i tried to start it now there was nothing... doesnt even turn over.

Bloody hell i say... alternator??

Yep sound like it, get the battery on charge, leave it deep discharged and you will kill it.

Probably just the brush pack usually is.

Thanks will get on it. Just ordered part. Start with cheap fixes first... Have unplugged the battery but no charger so might have to buy a new battery :(

If you have a set of jump leads charge the T25 battery up from your other car.

If you don't have a set of jump leads, seriously consider buying some

If you don't have another car, borrow a friends :D

Oh bugger ...... the forum doesn't have a sympathy smily either.

Sounds like a trip to the garage to charge the battery is your best plan of attack :ok

Better than nothing and will at least take the battery out of deep discharge........... eventually, at 0.75ah it might take a couple of days to be usable

As itchy said, probably brushes. Also check the blue wire is connected to the alternator.

Looks like the left hand brush is either stuck in or significantly more worn than the other. I don't know what the min length is but it looks like a new brush pack will solve your issue.
