Can anybody tell me what the top right switch should operate? Its fed from an extra relay at position 14 but currently doesnt do anything. I'm not familiar with the symbol on it.

Switch has a tell tale lamp on it so could it be front fog lights?

The fog light switch has two positions so operates the front and rear fog lamps (took me a while to work that out!) I did wonder about ambulance lights but would have expected a beacon symbol. I couldn't find any wiring for beacons in the high top. There's a pair of brackets on the front bumper inboard of the fog lamps which I assumed had held the sirens.

If the part number on that switch is 251 941 533, its a switch 'for flashing main beam'. Ambulance fitment. The symbol on the switch suggests this. The relay should be a #21 according to the wiring diagram, which is quite extensive and has numerous relays and switches in addition to standard fitment.

I'll check the part number Andy but that makes sense. Would explain why part of the wiring is disconnected. I could use it to switch something else in future then. The relay doesn't have a printed number on it. I have a whole load of extra relays, some behind the glovebox. Do you have a link or PDF of ambulance wiring I could have?

I'll have to scan-in the ambulance wiring diagram, leave it with me. I was just looking at some pics I took of the electrics on your van when I was on a camping trip with Dave. There were 3 relays on top of the plate, two un-numbered, but pretty sure that switch is for flashing main beams.

Thanks Andy, forgot you were familiar with the van. I started looking at the wiring because I was thinking about putting beacons up, then started trying to work out what the gubbins behind the glove box did. Three hours later I was not much the wiser!

I've scanned and uploaded the wiring diagram for the T3 Ambulance 85>.

When investigating your van, I suggest you treat the diagram as a 'guide', rather than assume its 100% correct, as your van was a bit of a 'special'.

Many many thanks Andy. I have to take the dash out to change the heater fan at some point. So a pwm fan controller will go in and some hours will be spent with a multimeter getting my head around the wiring. Do you think it would legal to reinstate the flashing headlights (not for road use, obviously).
