TCI-H System - Control Unit

Post by JonathanR »

Hi
1.9 Petrol Water cooled engine.
Have unscrewed the Control Unit from the engine bay for a bit of panel repainting.
The control unit has a heat protection plate between it and the engine bay panel.
There is some clean "gease" on the plate channel and unit - is this ordinary grease or something special and what purpose does it serve.
Many thanks

its thermal paste - to allow the heatsink and the TCI unit to conduct heat to each other effectively..

Go to maplins and ask for a tube of CPU thermal paste

And you only need a thin smear. Too much has the opposite effect.
