2 stage radiator fan switch wiring

Post by JustSharon »

Just attending to the (endless) list of jobs...
A while ago the 2 stage rad fan switch packed in so Pete bypassed this and used the 2nd stage. Now I am looking at it, got a new switch, plug etc from Mr Baxter.
Can you clarify that I am thinking this through right...
Looking at the rad switch it is numbered +, 1, 2 so positive (red) goes on the outer side terminal [+] , 1st stage (red &black) to the centre terminal [1] and the 2nd stage (blue and red) goes to the other outer [2].

Thank you xx

That would be my thinking also - looking at just one wiring diagram it should be a red/blue not blue/red - second colour should be the stripe. It has been so long since I did mine that I can't remember for sure. (This is where people go wrong testing the fan, a lot of people think that the centre is +ve)

That's me looking at Bentley blue/red. On another switch it's red/blue for 2nd stage, but in my pic (just realised) it's not red positive it's red/white.
