The 7th pin is 'diagonal'. Would your wiring block which fits onto the back of the switch accommodate the diagonal pin, and if so, is there a wire attached to this slot?

The switch could have possibly been replaced by a previous owner with the wrong type...?

One of the reviews on JK for the switch says "Shame it wasn't my switch that was broken, well at least I now have a spare. If your indicators work but your hazards don't, double check the fuse next to the indicator fuse is seated correctly!"

Might be worth a quick check again of the fuses?

E D I T: just found this diagram while Googling... May be of some use to help understand the wiring

Is the hazard switch still out of circuit? Would this have an effect on the indicators not working? (just a random thought)

Looking at the circuit in Haynes, the hazard switch has to be fitted for the indicators to work.

Thany you .yes ive now realised that the switch needs to be connected.

New hazard switch and it still didnt work...do you know what it was ????
The damn horn was cross wired....black was to negative and earth was positive...this seem to.make the indicator lose voltage when the turn switch was activated
I dont know how they hell anything worked before .

Well im a very happy girl and know more about VW electrics than i ever wanted to find out.

I now have hazards and indicators and all.my earths and fuses are cleaned a lot more than they were

Now to put the dash back eeek

Well done :D

Glad you managed to get it sorted. I never would have thought the horn wires could have caused it!

It's good experience for when/if you have any electrical faults in the future!

Also, It's always good to keep your fuses/holders and Earth crowns nice and shiny too, so that was well worthwhile :)

We’ve suddenly developed an issue where the hazard continues to work but the indicators don’t. But when parked the parking lights come on when throwing the indicator stalk so assuming switch ok. Time to pull out those manual and start tracing all the components!

Easy fix though when I found the relays had been working their way out of their fixings. If all fixes were that easy!
