DAB Radio & Aerial

Post by mojo175 »

Hi Folks

Does anyone have any recommendations for DAB radios and internal aerials to fit in my T25?

Cheers

I have kept the standard aerial and bought a DAB splitter, this enables the stock aerial to be used with your dab radio. Works well.

I am considering fitting a DAB radio in mine also & would be interested to hear which will fit & which won't. Also are they any good as far as reception through out the UK is concerned

Well rain has forced me to do other things so two days ago fitted this .......
Image
Sony MEX-N600LBD. It replaced a JVC KDS6060. I have to admit I gave no thought to it fitting when I bought it and it is about a cm or two deeper and is the maximum that will fit as it is hard up against the moulded frame behind the recess. Bought primarily for bluetooth and USB.

I was going to post for recommendations on a dab aerial so this thread helps me.

My problem with the old radio and probably this one (have not yet driven the van with it fitted) is that I was forever changing channels as I changed gear as my knuckles would hit the control. So would like a flatter front. Or maybe I will shorten the gearstick.

Sorry should have been a mm or two difference am happy to measure depth if needed. The sticking point is the aerial lead out the back - did look for a rt angle connection that might have given a little more room.

I fitted a 15mm spacer available from Brickwerks. Weird thing is my knuckles are nowhere near it! Maybe your stick is bent?

I was looking for suitable spacers had the unit not squeezed in, so good to be pointed in the direction of Brickwerks.

Should have mentioned my nickname to friends is "knuckles" :rollin

I'll investigate further Ive not driven the van that much and may just need to change my knob holding style  and get advice on whether my stick is bent. Also I am still prone to get angry trying to find reverse and second so may be I need to improve technique.

Thanks folks for all your replies, in the end I went for a refurbished Pure Highway H260 from Halfords and an Autoleads stick on DAB antenna, the fitting was pretty straightforward and
so far the reception is pretty good even up here in Cumbria where all reception is sometimes flaky.

Fitted a sony cd / radio to ours last year (after putting up with a rubbish knackered old unit for 9 years !!- Why did it take so long ?!!?!?!!) & 6 nice new speakers & amp.

Our radio reception is really poor & crackly (using dab fitted to middle of front screen at the bottom) & external aerial. We have fitted a 15mm extention at front to fit the stero, & a right angle connector at the rear.

CD works amazing (so it must have something to do with connections - but what ????) we've take it out to make sure connections are good & they are fine.

Hi,
Would the Halfords Sonichi Magnetic Antenna work with a am/fm radio?
Has good reviews for DAB radios but my fm radio is fine for the moment just need a better aerial.
Thanks
