Just use those numbers, it is an Aircooled starter motor.sharpmz wrote:I've had a quick brush off and I really can't see any sign of numbers so I think they've gone. Is it crucial to have that number or is it possible that the local Bosch agent will be able to ID it?

I have the same starter, if you're looking for new brushes, eBay item No 253029610527 fits the bill. The ones I removed we're down to around 6mm.
For a new solenoid item number 282103335240. Hope that sheds some light on it for you.

Hope it gos well, if you're gathering the bits together beforehand, you'll probably need new M5 by 35mm screws for the solenoid, and a decent power soldering iron, luckily we had 400W one at work that I used, but the biggest tipped one you can find to get the heat transfer for the new brushes the better. Mine wasn't quite as rusty by the looks of it, but 2 coats of black Rustoleum and she's looking like new.

Good tips thanks, I'm hoping I can borrow the soldering iron from a mate and I've got the screws but was thinking about what was posted earlier in the thread and using bolts to make it a bit easier for next time.... which will hopefully be a while!
