Hi everyone

Love my t25 even though it requires me to rebuild the engine 80 miles after buying it. Never mind will be fun. Anyway just wondered, can you buy the wire that connects the alternator to the sender wire that goes to the dash to put the battery light out or is it a case of getting the soldering iron out? Mine seem to be missing so dash light is constantly on even though there is no charge problem, thanks.

It's just a normal bit of wire (AWG 20 according to Bentleys) but are you sure that it isn't there somewhere - it would be strange for it to be missing completely from the wiring loom ??
Have you looked on the long white connector that plugs into the back of the gauges to see if it is there?

Sorry, it is the actual wire that connects in the engine bay to the alternator. The're is a three pin connection, cylindrical in appearance that I am assuming the missing wire connects to and then to the alternator.

Off the top of my head I *think* alternator wire is on it's own and not a multiplug. Ones I remember doing we're male/female connector with yellow housing. Look in black box in corner of engine bay. The wire is blue

That connector is to do with 1980's VW dealer ignition timing equipment. It's not to do with the (blue) wire from the alternator.
That plug is not used these days.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

As he said ^^^^ 3 pin plug is defunct timing connector.
Your 'exciter' wire, is thin and blue with either an eyelet or female spade on the end...here is a picture of a late type (with eyelet) the blue wire to the right held down with an 8mm (spanner size) nut.
