Intermittant fuel pump - power supply ?

Post by boardmonkey »

Hi,

Had a breakdown and trailer home Easter Friday as van conked out after driving 40 miles, broke down in Dangerous place on A30...in the rain.
Yesterday I got the van running again, dont really know what I did to get it running..today it started then died, now will not start - I cant hear the facet fuel pump priming...

Checked the Electrics - primary & secondary circuit out of coil is within range...power from back of Alternator is 11V.

New battery arrived and installed, same symptoms...

I now get over 12v out of the Alternator to the relay, I bridged the relay and get 12v out to the pump...I get 12v at the pump connection yet the pump is doing nothing...have requested a return and replacement.

Disconnected pump, tested on duff battery and it works...glad I didn't send it back...so its a dodgy earth..goping to run an earth from one of the crowns to the pump to be sure.

Thanks, Richard
