Jesusjason 'What' allows for higher wattage?
All I can find on there is higher wattage bulbs and relay kits. You don't need higher wattage. The installation of relays and osram silverstar bulbs is all you need and has been covered to death.

From the HID4U website FAQ:
"Unfortunately no aftermarket HID kit is strictly road legal as you are changing the lighting system (from halogen to gas discharge) in your car and for this reason the bulbs can't be E marked which is a legal requirement. You also won't have the self leveling and washer systems installed which is also a legal requirement for HID and without these installed the kit would be an MOT failure. HID kits are plug and play so they are easy to remove and replace with standard bulbs come MOT time."
So not only would your vehicle be illegal you would risk dazzling and annoying other road users.
If you don't like cars up your chuff illuminating the road in front of you, consider an engine upgrade

Re: Headlight Loom Upgrade
Just thought id add to this thread after installing this 'boomslang' loom myself.
The cable lengths are perfect as already mentioned, and seems very high quality.
My lights are now much much better, and taken on a whiter colour (same night breaker bulbs).
Next I might get those other light units from the other thread. To complete the revamp. Great kit!

I have a HID conversion on my Vanagon square headlights.
Garage in Ashtead did the MOT and all good, they did express concern that in theory it may be illegal.
They have passed it for the last 2 years though!!

Re: Headlight Loom Upgrade
Under front carpets is most direct route but its far from ideal and gets messy when you get close to battery. Nothing wrong with holes providing you use a grommet. All mine run underneath and are at least four times the capacity compared to what VW provided.
Personally, whilst a new front loom is a bonus, on its own it won't solve voltage drop, the worst of which is cables from battery to starter/alternator. This is why some end up fitting additional relay at starter motor. It shouldn't be needed at all if nice fat cables are used to start with.
For those that haven't already read it: http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/VW ... ain_cables" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, fed it through by the accelerator pedal, then run it under the mats, not ideal, but it works and I can actually see at night now.
Thanks for the link, read several times, but its something I need to get confidence to do before I tackle it...but its something to get round too
