Headlamp and Reversing light switch advice please

Post by sausage fingers »

Morning all,
I need a bit of advice please,
I have no reversing lights, bulbs are fine so I am trying the switch next. Is it easily accessible (apart from sliding underneath of course) ? And is it the same as the normal T25 one ?
I have twin headlamps (round ones) and wondered what alternatives people have used ? I know some folks have put M1 Golf lamps in Beetles etc

The reverse switch is half way along the gear box on the left hand side, I would asunme that its the same as a 2wd but worth confirming. From memory it a 22mm socket or spanner to remove it,
I don't realy understand what your asking about the lights.

There are not that many options on headlight grills and lights really. You have the standard round headlights, square caravelle style ones, the Scandinavian twin square ones with the washers for the snow, some other twin aftermarket ones that try to look like the SA ones but look ugly IMHO, or the Projek 2wo ones if your lucky enough to find them. If you are after some more light from the front from what you have now then there a few upgrades available. Go for a high power flood light for general driving or a spot light if you want something a bit more direct. There are also a range of lower Projek Zwo stylee lower grill lights that are going to be available on the UK market very soon, they are being tested at the moment.

I hope this helps,

Jed

PS. For your reverse lights the forst place I would try is your earth crown  Have a look if your getting 12v at the bulb holder and if you have then its the earth. Really easy fix with some sand paper.

Early golf h/lamps don't fit a t25, my round ones had corroded reflectors so I bought a new pair from Brickwerks with high powered bulbs, sorted !! 8)

Easy way to test the reverse switch is to bridge the connector with a split pin...and see if the lights come on...remember to turn on the ignition!

I'm 99% sure it's a golf part so should be available readily.
