Hope all is OK with CJH. Tried to get one of these a few weeks back but also didn't get a reply. Decided to have a bash at replicating this as it's a really neat bit of kit!

I fitted on of CJH kits and agree was really good, hope he continues to offer them really cost effective solution

I've been having lots of fun following your great instructions assembling your kit to rewire my late petrol clockset with tacho, LCD clock, DOPS.

I've also read through the fascinating string Re:replacing the dashboard plastic PCB

I can't help feeling you've exposed yourself to a world of pain from people like me, on a different somewhat lower level! So understand if you're too busy or disinclined but.....

Feeling pleased with myself as I've almost made it...... however there remain 4 obvious hurdles.

1/. I have the brown and the red clock leads coming from the X3 gauges green sockets but no socket to connect to LCD pins in back of clock? Do I need to cut them from the original plastic ribbon?

2/. On my Petrol tachometer, I have 4 pins available and a 3 pin brown /red/orange dupont lead. Where on the board do I need to attach the other ends? X6_EXT?

3/. I have a gap in the X3 gauges clamp where it says Tachometer....? and a green blue wire...?

4/. Air gap from the fuel light board socket to ?????

I have an original midlife crisis board in the van, (he made one for me when I gave up the ghost) had it 2 years and its worked great.. but the voltage regualtor has come off, brittle pins so I have no coolant or petrol indicator.

I have bought a replacement regulator, but dont really fancy going in and de soldering old one and putting new one in a very tight space. Any advice?

I'm not familiar with the "midlife crisis" board, could you post a pic?
I can probably do it for you but would mean posting it to Skye.

Well - glad it lasted a couple of years at least!!
If you fancy soldering a new regulator on it can go anywhere from where it used to be upwards to that second bit of wire; as long as you solder it into the same three ‘lanes’ of pins
So basically anywhere on the red lines in the pic below - does that make any sense??

Not brittle pins on the voltage regulator - I notice that on the pic above that the regulator isn't bolted to a heatsink so there are 2 failure points that would raise their heads, vibration due to not being fixed down and overheating.

Has it ever been confirmed that The creator of this thread is actually okay? He seems to have been missing for a while.

I've not heard from Chris in a while, just sent an e-mail to check he's ok.

He has checked in fairly regularly but has never posted again. eg 11.13 this morning.
