Hi.
Please click on link below, this will show you a photo of typical t25 engine bay.
In the top right hand corner is a cable with a large rubber housing with an open/close lid.
Inside is a male 3 pin connector.
Can anyone tell me its purpose, i have exhausted google images, pinterest and haynes manual trying to identify it.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated

It looks similar to what is mounted on the Alternator in my 1.9DG.

Itchy is correct - used by VW to determine TDC. I'm not aware of how we can use it

I vaguely remember using a VAG diagnostic tool, the number of which I have long since forgotten, to plug in to this socket..as others have said..now redundant.
