Looking good so far. That's some hefty ply you're using there - must weigh a ton.....

Well impressed with your work mate, you've taken care with everything from bodywork through to carpeting.
How many hours do you think it has taken for the painting, roof lining, carpets etc or did you lose count.

I think Daz will have counted it in days/weeks not hours. :D :ok

Months :rofl
Its hard to say mate but to try and break it down it took a weekend to re line the roof. Had to remove the old lining then clean the old foam off .
Painting was over the span of a couple of months (Fred chose the wettest year for a long time to sell me his van, cheers  )
but for painting alone your looking at 8 hrs or so to do one coat(X 3 coats)
Rubbing down between coats is gonna take you best part of a day.
All in all a long time, but its worth it to keep the old girl on the road :ok

Thanks mate, just needed an idea of each job you've done.
Paint is obviously the most time consuming, more time the better I guess.
If its a days work flatting between coats then I'll need more wet and dry for sure, along with more patience than I usually have. Contemplating a decent polisher for this, don't know if its a good idea though.
Also need to find a source for foam brushes, will know what size when I've watched the dvd.

Of all the jobs I need to do its the roof lining and carpets I didn't have a clue about, I'm a lot wiser now thanks to your efforts. Think I'll allow more time though.

Cheers

Im not the most patient person in the world but I found if I broke the sanding down into sections and completed each part before moving onto the next then it wasnt so bad. The rear reat bases, I think theres a pic of them once I had covered them, that took all day to do with andrea keeping me supplied with tee. If you need to know any of the suppliers for stuff let me know . Daz

Daz, this is very inspiring... I need to do lots of welding on my van. The previous owner (s) must have spent a fortune in body filler, some of the panels are not the correct shape.

Your pics make me want to buy a mug welder and weld my van up properly!

How hard is it and can I ruin my van???
life is too important to take seriously

If i were you, dont buy a MUG welder, MIg welders are much better :ok

Its quite easy. ive been using flux wire so dont need the gas but cant weld as much in one go due to it getting hotter.
Get one second hand off fleebay and have a practice with it on some scrap metal, ive learnt it all at home throught trial and error.
If you have any problems there are plenty of guys on here willuing to help, i bet theres nothing on your van that hasnt been done on here and with pictures i bet.
The only way youll ruin your van is if you start then just pack up, it takes determination and patience :ok
