I see the spring through the rectangular hole ok, where the screw is screwed in, its blank. I will wait until the new key arrives, and see if it work first.

Thanks

I would just like to say a massive thanks to member DanSimpson for cutting me a new key based on the code I gave him from my new handle. I now, having the key can remove the barrel, and fit my own into it, thus keeping everything on one key, with a spare barrel and key to boot.!

After successfully removing grub screw, and barrel, Im left puzzled how the srping attaches to the barrel prongs on my lock. Anybody have a photo, or picture/diagram of the spring set up I could see please?

Thanks

Hold the spring with the prongs facing you. Put the spring into the rectangular slot like you're posting a letter. The prongs should touch the sides of the "letter box". Push the barrel of the lock down through the handle and through the centre of the spring. I spent ages trying to balance the spring on the barrel and fit it from the top before noticing the slot.

Did you sort your spring problem? I had the same issue, but worked it out after hours of trying! If you didn't sort it I can explain.

Just remove the large pan headed screw on/in the inside handle and the outside handle slides out.

Brilliant, not as difficult as I imagined then as I was under the impression I needed to strip the entire locking system out. Ok, wish me luck!

Thanks mate :ok

Worked a treat my friend, thanks so much for your help. all done now, and a happy camper. Oh and also found that my sliding door has a retro fitted central locking solenoid too, but the contacts were not lining up, so sorted, and working now :ok

And here the finished article, new handle fitted, however, I am questioning its position somewhat. It seems to stick out. Is it supposed to look like this?

I am still stuck trying to get the barrel our of the SLding door lock. I have removed handle, have removed grub screw. WIth the key in there is NO movement beyong a half mm tunr - this is after repeated soakings in all manner of penetrating fluid, wd40, etc.
Also tried Boiling Water (whick removed some crud) but still no movement from the barrel in the handle.

Poking through the hole doesn't work - and neither does a screw driver in the rectangular hole at the side.

ONly application of serious heat and/or brute force (which always ends badly for me) left unless someone has other ideas.

The barrel should come free seeing as you have the grub screw out. What I did was put the key in, and turned the key fully one way, and pulled down, causing friction, and pulling key outwards and the same time, and in return the barrel came out.
