Re: Locks barrel removal
You need to have a key in there, the correct one will make it easier but you need to jiggle the wafers to pull it out
Re: Locks barrel removal
Cheers david should there be a little bit of play in the lock as I'm not sure if its seized in there no movement from inside the hole where you push the barrel out from

Re: Locks barrel removal
once you have removed the grub screw you can use a small screwdriver in at the end to gently pry the barrel whilst wiggling the key to release the wafers but chances are they are seized solid and reamed by the key any way so you just need to get it moving then once the silver escutcheon is out you can grab it with pliers and extract, be careful tehre's a silicon seal in there
Re: Locks barrel removal
Thanks for the advice lads but I think its stuck solid I've try prying with a screwdriver I've left it soaking in plus gas for a few days but still no joy I have had it in a vice and hit it with a hammer and a screwdriver but it is stuck solid so I've come to the conclusion that i have to sacrifice the barrel and drill it out to save the handle.

Re: Locks barrel removal
a bit of heat and pry - it shouldn't be that hard to extract
is the key slot in line with the handle ?
is the key slot in line with the handle ?
Re: Locks barrel removal
Yes the key slot is in line with the handle I didn't think of using heat but will give it a go first before I get the drill out just did the passenger one I had to put it in a vice and hit it with a round punch to get out it was that stuck in

Re: Locks barrel removal
PlusGas, patience, heat, big hammer or breaker bar is generally the order to proceed in freeing things up I find, often with a repeat cycle or two before the big hammer
Re: Locks barrel removal
I will keep this order in mind next time I need to free anything up.All locks and ignition all on the same key except the tailgate which I need to do next.

Re: Locks barrel removal
very awkwardly, it provides pressure in both directions so iirc you put it in then manipulate the 2nd end into the same cut out as the first and try not to disturb it as you introduce the barrel
Re: Locks barrel removal
Thanks Aidan,
Hope all is well with you.
I'll update upon completion ..... hopefully
