Turning mt t25 into a 5 seater?!

Post by OxfordBertha25 »

First of all I'm new to this so please be gentle! I recently purchased my first t25 as a project (bit scabby), but one thing I do have to do after sorting out the scabs is turn the bus into a 5 seater to ship us all about!

So my question to you all is, is it best to put 3 in the front or somehow 3 in the back?!

Thanks in advance.

most rock n roll beds being 3/4 are not going to have much room, 3 up front needs a double passenger seat but you loose the walk way and they were designed for a bulkhead so you need to fit them somehow.

You could consider a buddy seat behind the passenger seat, that's common.

Is this a camper with an interior or a van you want to turn into a bus ?

Funny how people assume that the van is always a camper! :o

Probability. Most are.
I'm one of the few with an almost empty van, which is an expensive luxury

In that case itchyfeet suggestions are good - in my Autosleeper the bed (not R & R) is two seats making it a 4 seater, the 5th seat can be a buddy seat and you retain the walk through, rotating front seats etc

Are the 'buddy seats' safe? As in good for MOT and people not dying in them?! :ok

Someone else will have to answer that question.

I'm of an age where my T2 seat when I was growing up was a couple of pieces of plywood and cushions. Worked fine for me, I always prefer not having an accident in the first place, primary safety rather than active safety.

MOT testers can only test what they see.

Granted, I too use to travel about unstrapped in the back of a van.............however times have changed quite a bit since then! But thank you for your reply.

Not as safe as a forward facing seat but it's the seatbelts that are most important.

If you want safe get a modern vehicle with crumple zones, antilock brakes and airbags, in modern terms no T25 is safe.

We have three seats in our 3/4 width r and r bed. Got two three point seat belts and a lap belt, so it's the three points for the child seats and an adult can (just) squeeze in between them, if they're reasonably slight.

Westfalia did a middle seat for the Joker model and you could replicate this by using a middle 2 seater from a Caravelle.

What do you do with those when you arrive and are camping?
Pull them out maybe and use them to sit on in the awning?
