Sill repair

Currently cleaning up the underside of the van while the fuel tank is out.

I have been wire wheeling any rust spots and have reached the sill, under the rubberised coating are a couple of holes initially I was going to cut back to good and install a plate. However I have reached the back and this is also in poor shape hidden under a coating.

The sill in question is on the slider side

There are various threads on here showing rear jacking point repair.

brilliant thread, lots of work ahead then.

my understanding of the install so far is:

front
- outrigger (looks in good condition will leave alone)
- outer sill for sliding door
- inner sill

rear
- inner sill
- jacking point

repairing the B and C pillar as required

access to the B pillar is gained from removal of the outer panel.
access to C pillar requires removal of the rear arch section.

Probably, I’m mostly making it up as I go along, but there’s other threads to read too.

Looks like you will be replacing the door track as well, make sure to measure the heights of everything before dismantling. I just about got away with it.. the repair panel, that sits inside the sill, doesn’t have a height reference so vital to measure from a datum..
Aside to that the removal of the inner sill can be a pain, under seal covers the spot welds you need to drill out.. took me far longer than I expected!!

That doesn't show the sliding door side repairs. One of the best ones is Procrastinating never got anyone anywhere.

Got the trailing arm off yesterday what did you use as a reference point for the mount position?

There is every chance mine has moved albeit slightly.

If you look at my thread, you’ll see (I think) that I used the trailing arm fitted to the new mount. My old mount was well gone. Get the mount clamped in position, adjust to get the face of the trailing arm vertical and pointing straight forwards... Check many many times...
