Another failed window install today, I got the seal in but no way I was getting the filler strip in.
I made the hole the same width as the window plus the web but I think I need to give it an extra 1 or 2 mm both sides.
I'm really not used to this level of failure

This was the 1.5mm rubber strip I was told to fit to pad the frame out to match the seal, I took it off again and now the window fits.
I think I will just pull the filler strip out next weekend and add some sealant and see what happens when it rains.

pulled filler strip out today and ran a bead of sealant around both to body and to window, put the strip back and cleaned up.
I think this is the best solution and it occurred to me anybody can do this in an hour without removing a window to help seal it.
