Sliding door rail repair panel

Post by Cyrus »

Hi I have just returned from the darkside (Facebook) and I need to repair the part that holds the sliding door rail. (My door keeps falling off) the body work has rotted away.
A few years ago metalmikey made up a repair panel but I don't know if he's still on this forum or making them.
The other option is a body cut if anyone can help?
Thanks
Cy

If you can weld and can’t get a panel, I’ve been to a local place that sold classic parts and made panels and they happily sold me sheet still that they folded on a sheet metal brake very cheaply. When you consider the panel under the door rail it’s essentially a long flat run with a shallow fold up to the window.
Failing that, YouTube is full of channels with people doing metal work with very basic tools that make it within our skill range very quickly.

The restoration thread has some really good work in there.
