Westfalia Luggage Rack Wind Noise/Reasonance
Hi all
Have noticed whilst driving around 60mph that the front of my luggage rack reasonates against the roof of the van sometimes and also causes wind noise getting underneath it. Anyone had this problem before?? Seems to be bolted down tight enough? I know that they cant be perfectly sealed to allow water to escape from the drain holes in the luggage rack so wondered if there is anything I can do??
On another 'wind noise' topic have sorted the drivers side wind noise problem (took off aftermarket aerial which left two holes in the A pillar and so was like a wind tunnel when driving along) so want to sort this now
Thanks

Got a picture of your rack? Might help us visualise the problem and a solution

Hi Adie
Its a space roof fibreglass luggage rack above the drivers cab. As far as I can see it appears to be bolted down enough. Would be worried about cracking it if it was screwed down too much. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Might be worth trying backing off the fixings all round and then re-tightening the front ones first in case it's distorted slightly under tension

The seal under your westy luggage rack doesn't look like the correct one, it looks too thin. Check out the Brickwerks site for the correct type.

Doesn't look like a Westy, Reimo?
Right hand drive converted panel van, if you're shopping for Westy parts then they might not fit.

Sorry I have confused matters. Yes it is a converted panel van with a space roof and luggage rack fitted which I suppose is a westy copy. The seal on the luggage rack is the one that came with it.

Looks like a westy roof, the seal on my luggage rack is the same thickness as the seal on the main part of the roof , the one on yours isn't the same, have you had a look at the one brickwerks sell ?

Thanks multisi.
The seal on my luggage rack is much thinner than the roof one. Maybe that.

Another vote for the wrong seal on the front section. My carthago one is similar to reimo and yours and the seal is as thick as the pop top.
