Well, after another investigation in the garage yesterday, I decided to recreate the area partly but to maintain the original curve. This one happened to be rust-free, :ok. So, time to do some panelbeating at -4 Celcius…. I first sandblasted the area around it.

Here are the new panels, ready to be welded in when I have the time. Do notice the original bends at the bottom to match the existing panel.

I'm rather pleased to be honest. Sadly, my sandblaster didn't work too well as sand just poured out (nozzle 3,5 and also tried 2,5), so I had to use my smaller version instead. In the following picture I sandblasted the rear roof corner & gutter and decided that I'd just leave this as it is rather than replacing this with fresh steel. It currently has a first epoxy layer but could as well do with some bondo before painting;

Easier to have flowing curvaceous designs without gutters. And that’s better for aerodynamics, and aero is king!

Well I'd rather stick to the original design.

That’s a nice bit of folding there! Looking good.
