Help finding the name of a part

Post by Hoopy_Frood »

In the first photo below, I have tried to show where I have dented the side of my van. I can get a new panel easily enough but there's a section of metal that the panel is spot welded to on the inside which is also deformed. I've no idea what this is called or if replacements are available.

having a dig online brought me to the second picture. I think the part I mean is shown as #2

Anyone tell me what this part is called?

Thanks
Iain

Its called a reinforcement, there seems to be a year change for them , I have a new early one I bought by mistake, can you describe what the ends of the one in your van looks like. They are only spot welded to the pillars and bonded to the main panel.

Great!

I'll have a look and come back to you. I might need to remove some of interior to get a proper look/photo.

My van is 1984 and is all early bits if that helps?
