Sliding door, drainage holes?

Post by conor2469 »

I recently replaced the bottom section of my sliding door because it had rusted out. It is now painted and back on the van. I go to do some work on the van this weekend to discover that the bottom of the sliding door is full of water!

Should the bottom of the sliding door have drainage holes?

Should the sliding door get water inside? I know some doors are designed to allow water in and then have it flow out the bottom, however I cannot see where the water may have gotten in. There is a non sliding aftermarket glass window in the sliding door, the seal seems to be good and tight.

If you have used the budget inner skin repair then you have to drill/cut out the oval drainage holes yourself, the water may be getting in past the window seal.
