Centre Bearing Channel for sliding door

Hi All

We have recently bought a 1983 Air Cooled T25 up here in East Kilbride, we are proceeding with a restoration, replacing a lot of panels. One part we are stuck with is the channel that the Sliding Door Centre bearing runs along, behind the side cover. I suspect that the window seal has been leaking and the panel has rotted through from the inside right through the channel. My mechanic is completing the bodywork repairs and advises that he can rebuild the panel but we need a new channel to weld onto it.

The part is not sold by JK, VWH or Brickwerks and I have tried AHSchofield with no success. I have tried a couple of breakers but I'm waiting for a reply. Can anyone advise where I could source one.

Thanks

Stuart

You need to go through the VW Heritage web site and on to their Classic Parts section (click the little blue emblem next to 'VW Heritage' at the top of the page).

The part number on my receipt is C252-843-871/A but this now 'corrects' to 252843341A on their web site. Although there is no picture, the description appears to be the correct item.

I asked this previously and the answer above is what I was given

Hope this helps

Also. Plasticman on here makes a brilliant reproduction of the panel that the sliding door rail welds to. I bought one off him. Much easier and cheaper than trying to fabricate :ok

That's not correct, part number 252843871A is the later style middle channel, it is not available from VW Heritage and the part 252843341A is a part of the hinge not the channel that is welded to the side. Stu-cam wants an early style channel which doesn't seem to be handed so can be used for rhd and lhd , I have sent him a private message after finding a shop that may have the early one in stock.
