Hi All, I have a 1985 Holdsworth T25 pop top. There a leak in the cab (on both sides) coming from the drain holes in the roof luggage section (see photos). I assume this standing water has started causing rust in the drains.
My friendly local bodyshop has suggested taking the entire roof off for the small bit at the front would be a huge job, so has suggested cutting the front luggage part off, removing, fixing the drainage and rust and then bonding back on, with fibre glass to cover the cut. I hope this makes sense!
I am looking for some specific VW guru advice from the forum before the chop starts in a few weeks! Any suggestions, or tips much appreciated.
For information, the rest of the body work and engine is in great condition, I've had all of the windows (including windscreen) out, rust proofed and resealed, so this is the last major bit - for now at least
The very crude blue lines are where the chop will go to take the front section off. Photos in the following link.

Thank you in advance
Steve.

Re: Holdsworth T25 roof luggage drain
personly I'd take the lot off because there will likely be rust elsewhere
chop it and it will always be a bodge.

Thanks for the reply @itchyfeet - much appreciated. I've looked on here for a post showing how to do that, but cannot find anything? If you've come across please let me know otherwise I'll keep searching!
Thanks again

Re: Holdsworth T25 roof luggage drain
you can start by removing the two boards at back and front
there are screws in the carpet lining you will then start to see how its fixed down.

you can see here drill rivets out all around the inside and cut silicone with a knife, I have never done it myself, looks like headlining would need removing around hole.
this pic is an 89 I assume the same or similar.

Re: Holdsworth T25 roof luggage drain
I should add I would onl trust this work to a specialist not your average bodyshop.
If you ruin the roof the resale valve of your van plumets.

That's amazing thank you. I won't touch this! I will make sure a specialist does this as well.
Thank you so much for the pics and your help. Mine's a 1985.
