early or late sliding doors

Post by Thorssen »

Hi

Can anyone help explain how to identify early or late sliding doors? I did find a post referred to in earlier chats, but the link is broken viewtopic.php?f=19&t=146069

I'm expecting to need an early, as it's a A reg 1983. But someone has suggested it's a late door due to flat rather than rounded pillars, and I'd hate to get the wrong thing.

Also are the cab and tailgate doors similarly early/late.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The early sliding door has a larger recess for the longer door handle to operate in. 85 on had the shorter handle so the recess was reduced in size.

Thanks - without knowing the handle/ recess size, I'm assuming the early/late change was '85, so mine will be an early door.

I'd imagine you've got an early sliding door, if you look at a few photos of vans online you'll soon see the difference as the size difference is obvious
