Mine looks lovely compared...
but I still want to get welding done and prevent more rust.
Just had a bit done by Volksweld here in Redruth.
They say its not been welded before and is in great shape.
Thing is I feel it needs a total job including paint and further prevention measures.
I dont know but imagine freshly welded areas are more vulnerable to rust.
So what do you do about that?

I was changing a rear wheel looking around inside the wheel arch,
and found the rubber plug missing behind jacking point.
Picked at it, scraped and hoovered out the dirt and wax oiled, dinitrolled it.
Its only two or three inches from where they just welded and it needs welding.
Really needs a more thorough go over and then paint and protect..
It deserves the best attention.

Anyhow specifically on the hinges..
I was looking at it this morning and dont really like the way they open,
awkward to get in there when the hatch is in the way.
So I am going to look into changing the style of hinge so they slip right off.
Cant slip off when closed, but after opening they slide to one side and off.
Thinking surface mounted and bolted on, stainless steel.
Some people would have issues with originality, but its an improvement..
and would be very easy to return to original spec in the future.
It appears my doors are in good enough shape to do this without repair.
Also I can do it myself rather than shipping it off to a welder/bodywork man.
Any thoughts, or someone who has done this before?

Any news on hinges?
I had some made but one has broken already,
sadly as they looked all nice and original.
Going back to thinking about more rustic ones,
chunky surface mounted!

If you are thinking of unorthodox methods of hinging you would be better of using Piano or continuous length hinge , not the type you get from the local ironmongers it's not suitable for external use , but coach builders stockholders will stock or get, undrilled and perhaps brass or stainless as l have had in the past

Pop rivets try also try sourcing S/s hinge from sheet metal workers suppliers or fish chip shop range makers for all the length required
