Replacing cowl around steering wheel

Post by itchyfeet »

Top bit has always been broken, got a 'new' one but old one hard to get off even when broken.

I'm wondering if it fits on with steering wheel in place or are you suppoed to remove it?

Don't want to break the new one trying.

thanks

I found getting my old one off easier with the wheel off and the steering column bolts out.
Still need to replace mine too. :ok

It is only 2 screws and a spring clip - what is difficult? ( I presume that you are referring to the steering column cowl as I can't think of a cowl around the steering wheel)

:rofl

you remind me of my father

Four of us were going out for dinner, I booked a table for 6 I said.... who else is coming he said?

yes two screws, yes around column, not technically around wheel, but the top bit is a fiddle to get past wheel and indicator, does it fit or do you have to bend it to fit with wheel on ( that's steering wheel not road wheel or ships wheel or waggon wheel) :D

I have never had any trouble getting mine off and on with the steering wheel in place, just a little bit of jer jer jer jiggling for the top piece ( As Ronnie Barker would have said).
