Front seat-belt mount repair

Post by 135135vw »

Hi,
I need to replace the front passengers seat-belt mount. I have cleaned it up to get a better idea of what needs doing and it looks likes the
rust is isolated to just around the old mount. I won't be doing the work myself but I wanted to know which replacement
panel I should buy, Brickwerks has the two following options;

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/b ... -left.html
https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/seat-belt- ... plate.html

Which panel should I use? And roughly how long should it take to weld the new piece in?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Nathan

My welder did this job on mine. We used the smaller repair piece you linked to and he used a piece of thick steel, too. The larger repair panel wasn't available then, it depends on the extent of the rust. From cutting out and welding in, should take just an hour or 2 I think.

There's quite a lot of crud under there normally so it'll be wise to clean up the underside yourself if you can. A good time to drop the expansion tank and check the oval pressing behind it as they often rot out.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
