Westfalia - chrome or dechrome on window seals?

Post by sweetaswesty »

The windscreen and windows are all coming out over the next few months on our pastel white Westfalia California hightop.
I just need to decide whether to replace the seals with the chromed insert ones or go for the simple black dechromed look.
The chrome inserts on the seals at the moment have turned to transparent plastic and the A pillars are adorned with black trim because the chrome isn't available.
I'm inclined to go with the plain black seals. Has anyone done that? Are you pleased with the look? I generally prefer to keep things stock which is why I'm just a little bit uncertain what to do.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Going to de bling my caravelle in the future and go for the multivan spec look - black frame sliding windows and no chrome trim.

Thanks - so that's my plan now too.
Incidentally I think it's supposed to be easier to get stock chromed windscreen seals than the plain black ones. But when I checked VW Classic De stock via the VW Heritage site they came up at a good price so I ordered one, hopefully the real deal.
