What methods have people tried/ used to clean inside the two rear chassis rails. I want to rewaxoyl but thought a clean would be good. Stuck a sponge soaked in petrol on a broom handle but did not get a great result. Or should I stick front end up on chocks and pressure wash? I can't see any drain holes in the rails.
Thanks for any tried and tested methods.

Best to use a dry method of cleaning, get one of those dish washing brushes attached to a wire handle and fix an extension on that. There are also some holes on the chassis legs you can get to from the engine bay. No need to use petrol for cleaning.

I duct taped a short bit of hose pipe to the vacuum cleaner. SWMBO was out and is none the wiser[WINKING FACE]

Seconded on the vacuum. I duct taped a piece of 15mm speed fit pipe to the hoover and that worked well.

Re: Cleaning inside chassis rails from rear bumper end
When I do mine (Itchyfeet will no doubt have a giggle about my time frame for this) I plan on sending a perforated tube up the rail and using compressed air to dislodge any loose dirt before vacuuming it out. Will it be successful? No idea but it can't do any harm.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Thanks for all the advice. At great expense I bought a toilet brush. £2.50. Screwed and duck taped it to a stick. Worked a treat. Also duck taped a long tube to end of vacuum cleaner. Wax oiled this evening.

Good effort, did you get much out with the vacuum?
I see you have the fancy plastic 'infill' strips for the big bumper - Swanky!

Sorry for late response. Yes a fair bit of crud was loosened. Much of it was pulled out when brush withdrawn. Then Hoover picked up finer material left behind. Probably should have run a bigger brush up. May look at what's available for drain rods. Alternatively attach to drill and spin. Did not try using compressed air as proposed above. Well worth doing.what2do wrote:Good effort, did you get much out with the vacuum?
