Slidy door pops open onto 2nd catch...

Post by rockthebus »

Hi Chaps
Well, Im getting through my to-do list slowly. Now its time to sort out the slidy door, which during driving, pops open onto the 2nd catch. The locating pin was too high, causing the lock to sit on the pin, and this is now at the correct height. But looking on BW, there seems to be a plastic piece missing from mine. Is this piece crucial to stopping the door from popping?

After taking of the lock, nothing looks worn, or am I missing something?

Thanks for looking!

The plastic piece is listed as a fitting guide, they come on new ones, the locks are sold out but the fitting guide for rhd locks are still available for under a fiver.

Alignment should help, it sometimes helped with mine. What has made the most difference has been replacing the lower roller, I had to as it just fell apart. Now slides closed as cleanly and quietly as it ever will do until I replace the lower roller track (part of the outer sill I think). But just doing the lower roller made a great difference.

Great minds... that's what I was thinking too. Parts are now in the garage waiting to be fitted. Bought all bearings.
Cheers

Great minds? Too kind! I only noticed the door shut properly after I'd had to replace the roller. My maintenance history is mostly reactive, not proactive! :rofl
